During processing, fine hemp particles under 1/8 inch are separated and compressed into dense, ultra-absorbent pellets. Because this fine material has more surface area, it can absorb up to four times its weight in moisture. Compared to pine shavings, one cubic foot of hemp pellets absorbs more because of its added density and weight.
